what is the best way to submit a feature request to Onkyo
Could you please advice the best way to submit a feature request to Onkyo product/engineering team regarding one of the receivers (specifically TX-NR818)?
Is there a special forum / e-mail address for it?
Thanks in advance.

I own a TX-NR818 as well. Just curious; what feature are you thinking about?
Thanks!

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SUBMIT A FEATURE REQUEST TO ONKYO
Forum Moderator,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
The_Chemist,
The feature I have in mind is related to assigning internal amp to particular channels and using external amp (connected to pre-out) for FRONTS with 9.2 channels driven by receiver.
At this point internal amp is by default used for FRONTS, CENTER, SURROUND, and can also be assigned to power one of one of FRONT WIDE / FRONT HIGH / SURROUND BACK.
This gives you 7.2. In addition to that TX-NR818, as advertised, is capable of driving 9.2 channels if you use an additional external amplifier.
It's a compelling feature, however the external amp can only be used to power one of FW/FH/SB.
I've asked a question here https://onkyoproductsupport.forumotion.com/t1813-onkyo-tx-nr818-92-with-external-amplifier-for-fronts?highlight=9+2+nr818 to confirm it.
The answer was yes, it's only possible to get 9.2 if you use the external amp for one of FW/FH/SB.
I'd love to see the possibility to have 9.2 with external amp driving the FRONTS and internal amp powering CENTER, SURROUND, SURROUND BACK and for example FRONT WIDE.
The whole idea is that if I can get 9.2 with additional external amp, I'd prefer to use a high quality stereo amp for FRONTS for superb stereo experience.
In this setup you can route your surround sources (HTPC or BD player) to TX-NR818, and for example connect CD player directly to external amp.
I'm no expert in internals of receivers, but really hope that this could be achieved by a relatively minor modification in firmware.
Thanks for the prompt reply.
