TX-NR609 Cooling Fan

Post  banders5144 on Mon Nov 26, 2012 2:22 pm

I just noticed the other day that it has a fan. I have been checking it out now and I haven't heard or seen it ever spin. When and how often does it ever spin?

My TX-NR818 has two cooling fans up front near the heat sinks. They are thermostatically controlled and only come on as temperature dictates. I don't know what the trigger temperature is though. Maybe one of the forum moderators could clue us in on that.

My 818 never gets hot enough for the fans to cycle on as I have two 80mm fans plugged into the USB port on the rear of the 818. My external fans blow air over the top of the 818 whenever it is switched on.

If your fans are not cycling on - that is a good thing. This means that your receiver is running cool enough not to need the additional cooling.

Correct, the internal are thermally activated based on the internal temperature of the receiver and deactivate when the unit has within a safe temperature level.
