Sound Problem with ONKYO TX-NR3007 - UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!! Empty Sound Problem with ONKYO TX-NR3007 - UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!!

Post  ECollett Mon Oct 22, 2012 1:42 am

I am really not happy right now with my receiver. I have owned a couple of Onkyo receivers in the past and never had this kind of a problem with them before. What happened to the quality of their receivers?? The only reason I upgraded to this receiver is because I upgraded to HDMI components and I read some reviews when this receiver first came out. My wife bought this TX-NR3007 for me for my birthday around 2 years and 4 months ago. This receiver cost alot of money and I can not believe it is having a sound problem already. It doesn't matter if you connect the blu ray player or cable TV or even listen to FM on the receiver. NO AUDIO but the video does work. I have noticed this receiver runs hot. I am not sure if this is part of the problem or not. Onkyo needs to get with their engineers on this. Receivers costing this kind of money shouldn't be having these kind of issues that soon. I praised the receiver after I got it, so much, that my son bought himself one also. Well, now his is having the same issue with the sound and they are both about the same age. 4 months after the warranty and this starts to happen?? Is this something Onkyo planned?? High cost receivers going bad after 2 years after the warranty is up?? I am betting the bill to repair these are high since the cost of the unit is high!! I have read alot on the internet about this sound problem on too many of there TX-NR receivers. Right now, I will not buy another Onkyo receiver again if they do not repair mine and my sons receiver for free. I have notice that if you play with the settings for about an hour they seem to come back on but if you turn off the receiver, the sound does not come back. Right now... I have gotten my receiver to get sound again after 45 minutes of turning it off and on about 100 times and I will not turn it off again until I get one of these receivers fixed. This is ridiculous. I know electronics can go bad but why would two go bad around the same time?? Sounds to me like Onkyo has a problem and it needs to be addressed!! They should let their customers know their is a problem with these receivers and fix it so their customers will be happy!! I am going to call Onkyo tomorrow about this issue and see what they will do about it and I will post a response. I am very unhappy right now and I want this receiver repaired CORRECTLY!!

Sound Problem with ONKYO TX-NR3007 - UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!! Empty Parts and Services Department

Post  ECollett Tue Oct 23, 2012 11:40 pm

I did as requested in the reply from the Forum moderator and called the parts and services department today. They were very helpful when I told them about my problem and I explained to them how disappointed I was about having two of these units with the same problem and only lasting a little over two years. They told me they would fix both receivers at no cost to me. They said they will do one at a time so as not to mix things up. This was very good news since these receivers cost alot of money. All I have to do is to take my receiver, with the receipt, to the repair depot that does the repair on their equipment and tell them the problems with it. All they needed was the serial number and the model number of the receiver. I also talked to support after I got off the phone with parts and services. I told them about the heat problem with the units and they said that they shouldn't be getting super hot and to tell the people at the repair place about the problem and that it should be checked out. They listened to me and was very understanding. I thought I was going to get the run around but that didnt happen at all. They were actually great to talk to. GREAT TECH SUPPORT and GREAT PARTS AND SERVICES DEPARTMENT!! Now.... lets see how the repair goes. I called the place where I am taking the receivers. They seem to be very nice on the phone. I will hopefully get to go there tomorrow. I will update this post as time goes on. Wish me luck and thank you ONKYO!!

Sound Problem with ONKYO TX-NR3007 - UNHAPPY CUSTOMER!! Empty Onkyo now has a happy customer again!! Got My receiver back and repaired!!

Post  ECollett Fri Nov 16, 2012 4:41 pm

This is an update to say that Onkyo tech support got my TX-NR3007 receiver fixed!!! YIPPEE!! I received it back on Monday and installed it that night. The problem was the HDMI board. It was shot. Onkyo sent a new replacement HDMI board to the place of repair that they told me to go to. I talked to the tech at the repair center and he said it is a common failure in these type of receivers. I hope the new board last longer then the old one. As for now, it is working great and I have run it every night when I get home from work for the past four days. It is working like it use to!! I will get in contact with Onkyo again to get the other bad unit repaired that my son owns. It has exactly the same problem. Lets see how that goes. I have the receipts for that one too. Thanks Onkyo!! You made me happy and I will continue to buy your product!!! The techs you had working on my receiver were very good and very nice to deal with.
