Maddening squeeks and chirps Empty Maddening squeeks and chirps

Post  sigfreund Tue Nov 13, 2012 11:17 pm

When I watch certain movies that have been ripped from Blue-Ray and played via my HTPC or streaming movies from Netflix played via my GoogleTV and then through my 616 5.1 I hear a faint high frequency squeek or chip sound. It doesn't happen often but enough to drive us crazy. We heard the same thing in our old house with a 606 and completely different speakers. Could this be an audio encoding/decoding issue and does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I want to acknowledge this posting and advise you that we will evaluate this issue and respond promptly. We will need to re-create this setup and determine if this can be replicated.

Maddening squeeks and chirps Empty More data

I will be trying to identify repeatable occurrences of these squeaks to help identify the problem. I was watching TV (Windows Media Center on my HTPC) when the squeak was occuring almost every 3 seconds. I starting recording the show (via Windows Media Center) and the squeaks are heard in the recording. My Onkyo display shows "HDMI PCM, Audyssey, Dynamic Eq Vol, ASb). Now that I have a source I can play with I will start trying differnet settings. It sounds like the squeaks are coming from the surround speakers even though the source is stereo. Any suggested settings are welcomed.
