TX--NR515 and Panasonic tv HDMI issue
I just bought the nr515 receiver and I immediately have a problem with my tv when the receiver is connected.
Here is what's going on:
1. If the receiver is plugged into the hdmi (power on or off) and my tv is set on that input the TV will NOT restart after I shut it off.
2. If the receiver is plugged into a hdmi and the TV is set to any other hdmi or input and I turn the TV off I can restart it with no problems.
I get ten flashes when my tv will not restart and the error code is something related to power/ standby.
I only started having this issue after using the 515 receiver and do not have any issue with my Blu ray, ps3 or dvr connected.
TV model: TH-50PZ80U
I appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Based on my recent research on this issue; where is your TV connected into for power- surge protector or wall outlet. As from the forum posting for this vendor; many have moved their power connection from the surge protector/ line conditioner onto the wall outlet and have not experienced this issue again.

Ok, I thought I resolved the issue by using a new hdmi cable that is high speed but that is not the case. It worked for a few times but today I had pandora running and I shutoff the TV and tried to turn it back on and I had the same issue.
I have the TV plugged directly into the wall outlet. I did have it plugged into a surge protector but since I started having problems I went directly into the wall.
If the receiver is off and I turn the TV back on it will start fine, I just cannot have the receiver ON and then turn the TV on.

Based on our research with this Panasonic issue; we are still assessing the catalyst of this issue and ask if the receiver is bypassed- is the issue still present?

VieraLink
Have you tried turning off VieraLink HDMI (HDAVI) control in the TV setup menu?

What do you mean by bypassed? Before I bought the receiver I had a PS3 plugged into the HDMI and my ATT Uverse receiver plugged in with no problems. I only started having issues when I plugged in the Onkyo receiver.

I do not believe that it is turned on but I will double check.

Break the Connection
I suspect this will come down to an incompatibility between a modern implementation of HDMI and a pretty early one on the TV. If you're prepared to thrown a few dollars at a *possible* solution, you could try inserting a HDMI repeater between the TV and amp in order to break the direct electrical connection. I was thinking something like this: http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Active-Equalizer-Extender-Repeater/dp/B004C4ZYR4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1352913331&sr=8-4&keywords=hdmi+repeater

Re: TX--NR515 and Panasonic tv HDMI issue
I was thinking it might have something to do with the receiver having the newer HDMI output and my TV not liking it. I am not sure if that would even come in to play but its just a thought.
I have a HDMI switch (1 HDMI in and splits to 3 HDMI outs with a button/automatic) that I am going to try also and see if that makes a difference. I prefer to not have my HDMI signal going through something else but I figure it is worth a try.
I will post what my results are when I try the ideas suggested above.
Thanks

Re: TX--NR515 and Panasonic tv HDMI issue
I had an old Panasonic BD30 Blu-ray player which also had HDMI problems with my new Onkyo receiver (616).
It could be early Panasonic HDMI related. My new Pioneer BD player is working flawlessly.

Re: TX--NR515 and Panasonic tv HDMI issue
Correct- some devices might present a HDCP/ HDMI handshaking compatibility issue- you can contact the manufacturer regarding this issue IF newer components are NOT experiencing any handshaking issues with your new receiver.
