Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible without any creative wiring to watch TV input through a HDMI source whilst listening to Spotify streamed directly through my Onkyo tx-nr515?

Unfortunately; this is NOT optional on this model receiver. As you can use the AUDIO SELECTOR option to direct the receiver to play an independent audio source (HDMI, OPTICAL, COAXIAL, ANALOG) separate from the current video input in use by that source device (BD/DVD, CBL/SAT, PC, GAME, etc.). The Audio Selector option doesn't have the option to select NET or USB so you can instruct the receiver to broadcast the audio signal deriving from the NET or USB input while you continue to watch video content from the BD/DVD, CBL/SAT, GAME etc. input.

Thanks for the reply. Is this something that maybe possible with a future firmware update?

TX-NR616

Great question scm6cy. I have/had the same question as I am hosting a party this weekend and would love to simply have a specific football game on the TV while listening to Pandora - and doing so without having to rewire the world.

Its amazing though, I always seem to want to do the one thing that the receiver/technology can't do. I suppose I will have to rewire everything to pull this off. Being that this is the first quality receiver I have ever purchased, I guess I didn't know what I was needing or looking for. Next time I will know what features to look for.

Moderator: You stated the NR515 can't do this, I would also assume the NR616 falls into this category too? Are there any Onkyo receivers that CAN do this? TV video and NET music?

In the same listening area- none of our receivers are capable of this capability. Your only options would be to connect an external device streaming Pandora (i.e. iPod Touch, iPhone, laptop, etc) and connect it onto the receiver via digital or analog cable connection and use the AUDIO SELECTOR tip mentioned in the previous posting. Or you can view the CBL/SAT content in the main room and set up your ZONE 2 speakers in that same listening area as well. Thus; you can now select NET: PANDORA for ZONE 2 and still utilize the CBL/SAT for your main room and disable the audio output for the CBL/SAT feed.

Can it be at least done the way that watching something on TV doesn't immediately switch receiver to TV input (through ARC)? And also turning on receiver doesn't turn on TV? I often just listen music and really doesn't want to turn on TV at all. Or sometimes want to view some pictures on TV while listening music. This auto-switching really doesn't allow this, there should be an option to 'decouple' receiver from TV, but keeping ARC functionality.

Hello all, this is my first post and I'm new here but I was reading this post and I had this same issue on my TC-P65VT30 hooked up to DTV DVR HR22 and TX-NR 808. I hope I read this post correctly but I was just watching ESPN while at the same time listening to my Pandora all from my DTV HR-22. Before I carry on is this correct to the question at all?

How have you connected onto the receiver from your video source(s) and where are you streaming Pandora from? If you are streaming Pandora from another device (iPod, Android phone/tablet, BD player with Pandora app, etc.)- you CAN NOT designate the NET function to co-incide with the receiver via AUDIO SELECTOR. Unless you are using extra A/V cable connection to provide a separate audio and/or video feed from your source devices onto OR from the receiver- this is NOT a optional setting. The initial inquiry was how to enable this setting with the simple AV connection as shown in the Hookup Diagram.

No problem. It would be a favorable option/feature- but it is currently not an option on our Onkyo models. Thank you for the clarification.

Best Regards;
