How to power on to last used state using a zone 2 setup? Empty How to power on to last used state using a zone 2 setup?

Just got my NR717 last week and all has gone very well and for the most part I'm very pleased with my purchase. How ever as the thread title ask I'd like to know how to power on to the last state. Just in case that's not clear let me explain the problem I'm having.

About 80% of the time I'm watching/listening to DTV via HDMI input > CBL/SAT and I'd like it to start there every time I start the receiver.
When I shut it down that's where it was when I did so. However when I restart the receiver goes it there initially, as evidenced by the front panel display, but seconds later (no more than 5) I loose audio and the NR 717 switches to TV/CD but I still see the video from the CAB/SAT input. I have to say it was working like I'd want at first but I must have made a change that screwed things up. Problem is I have no clue where to look or what to change back.
Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Other connections.
HDMI > PS3
HDMI > PC
HDMI > DTV
optical out (Samsung PN60E6500) > opt2 input (TV/CD) (for Zone2 audio) (May not be necessary and maybe the problem)
analog R&L output DTV > TV/CD
Zone 2 perout > amp > volume pot > speakers zone2
Ethernet Cat6
R&L main, R&L FH, R&L surr side, R&L Surr Back, Center, & 2 subs

all my HDMI cables are the latest variety w/AR + Internet
I'm connected to the HDMI AR input port #2 on the PN60E6500
I messed extensively with the setup because I had no audio over the 2nd HDMI out on the NR717
I made several changes ie adding optical cable and changing to port 2 input w/AR on the PN60E6500
I finally got audio to the zone 2 with pre out to amp and selecting the TV/CD as source
I'm not sure if this is when the changed started from going to where I left off to starting at the TV/CD input but it is possible.

Now I'm not sure how to get both working properly. That is to say starting up where I left off with the ability to switch to/activate sound at zone 2.
What would be the best setup?
I'd like sound over HDMI to Zone2 but not it's necessary.
I must have analog audio via the preouts>amp>volume pot to speakers on patio (zone2) for for a couple reason #1 I want 7.2 audio in main area (which is working fine with current setup) and #2 video/Audio from multiple source in zone 2 (Tuner, Internet Radio, DTV and PS3)

Again any help or possibly setup advice would be greatly appreciated! TY

So no love........

I just want to know why it goes to TV/CD every time I start it up no matter what I do.
I guess I can just add a few seconds and a extra key press to the macro that starts everything on my pronto remote then the problem/annoyance goes away.

I guess you can't expect much from these forums

We apologize for the tardiness of this response; but FORUM MODERATORS are only available to view and answer forum threads Monday to Friday during business hours. The initial indication that you are experiencing is due to the implementation of the ARC (Audio Return Channel) feature of both the receiver (TX-NR 717) and your Samsung TV (using the HDMI 2- ARC portal of the TV). As when you power on the receiver; if the ARC option is enabled on the receiver- it will always revert the input source of the receiver to TV/CD (thinking you are utilizing the ARC function of your TV to stream the audio signal from your TV back onto the receiver). If you disable the ANYNET+ or the ARC function of the receiver- and then power down the devices and restart- this should resolve the issue.

If you are still experiencing the same issue(s), Please contact our Product Support Dept for further assistance with this specific issue via our phone number and hours of operation (Monday- Friday 9am to 8pm EST/ Saturday- Sunday 10am to 4pm EST: (800) 229-1687; option #3 PRODUCT SUPPORT). We would like to speak with you and work to troubleshoot and resolve your issue as prompt as possible.

Cordially;
