i am having trouble with my reciever not decoding the dts format from blu ray movies. The only recognizable decoding that shows up on the reciever is dolby digital. if i have a movie that offers dts true hd, blu ray player has the logo to decode it, and have the reciever that decodes it, why does is just go to "pcm". i am confused. please help

Have you gone into the SETTINGS menu of your BD player and under the AUDIO SETTINGS, changed the HDMI AUDIO OUTPUT to BITSTREAM or disabled BD AUDIO MIX (if you own a SONY BD player)? What is the manufacturer of your BD player so we can further advise you how to reconfigure your BD player to properly output the preferred audio output? Have you also gone into the SETUP menu of the receiver and scroll down to 5. LISTENING MODE PRESET and press the ENTER button?

Now under LISTENING MODE PRESET- select BD/DVD and press ENTER again. Scroll down to DOLBY Digital (also do the same for DTS) and press the LEFT -> arrow button to toggle thru the available choices. Stop when you reach STRAIGHT DECODE and scroll down to DTS and do the same for DTS. Now press the SETUP button to fully exit the menu and start the BD movie again. Note: you will see the proper audio format when the movie starts- not thru the PREVIEWS.

Thank you very much for your support, the blu ray player was not set to code the sound properly. I never would have that that you would have to set up the player, i assumed that it just came ready. I was able to go into setting on the player and adjust for dolby true hd, and dts master, now every movie that i play that offers the sound is automatically recognized by the reciever and shows the display, even sounds better. Thanks again for your support, i don't know how many times i read the owners manual for the reciever trying to figure this out!
